Bushnell Best

Bushnell Best, 94, of St. Petersburg, Florida passed away surrounded by the love of his family on April 5, 2017. Born on June 29, 1922 in Canton, OH. Bushnell is survived by his brother Barney Best and his children Margaret Sugg, Patricia Darrow (Frank), Carole Francis (Gary) and David Best. He was the grandfather of Christal Prinz (Frederick), Rebecca Varone (Robert), Mary Sugg (Wayne), Tracy McDonald (Michael) and Russell Francis (Jennifer). He was great-grandfather of Katherine, Lindsey, Preston, Zachery, Emily, Mary Ella and Aria; and uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Coe Martin Best, Sr. and Mabel Bushnell Best; as well as his brother, Coe Martin Best, Jr., and wife, Ann Cloud Best. He was a 1940 graduate of St. Petersburg High School, M.S. Engineering Niagara University and B.S.Chemical Engineering, Georgia Tech. He retired in 1977 from I.B.M., Poughkeepsie, NY. He served in the US Navy during WWII and was honorably discharged May 1946. He loved playing Bridge and always had a pack of cards in his pocket just in case he could put together a foursome. He was a "regular" at The Dome Restaurant where he enjoyed both food and friendship. He had a deep love for God, Jesus and nature; he especially enjoyed the Seaside Seabird Sanctuary, Florida Botanical Gardens and Heritage Village.
