Chancie (H.) Anderson, 77, formerly of Kingsport, entered into paradise with his Lord on Saturday (March 21, 2015) at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem, North Carolina. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and brother whom will be greatly missed by all. C.H. was born in Gate City, Virginia and was a graduate Father Flanagans Boys Town in Omaha, Nebraska where he sang in the Boys Town Choir which travelled throughout the USA and Canada. He attended LMU on a basketball scholarship and later enlisted with the United States Air Force. Mr. Anderson developed his own BBQ sauce, "Ole Smokey"and became an entrepreneur having owned several restaraunts such as Ole Smokey BBQ, Coaches Restaurant, and Appletree Restaurant in the local area. He retired from Holston Army Ammunition Plant with 30 years of service. Mr. Anderson also enjoyed basketball, baseball, football, and hunting. He was preceded in death by his father, William Hobert Anderson; his mother, Louise Newton Anderson; brothers, Richard, Elmo, Charles, Donald Worley, and Billy Anderson, and; sisters, Marjorie Baldwin, Ernestine (Jerk) Smythe, Eula Jean West, Barbara Ann Slagle. C. H. Anderson is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Austin Anderson, his daughter, Michelle Anderson Moore and husband, William Heath Moore; grandsons, William Drake Moore, Mitchell Vance Moore; step-son, Jonathan Lawson and fiancé, Kim Lomonaco; step-children, Rick Ashworth, Kathy Ashworth Hensley, Tammy Ashworth Templeton and Charles Ketron; step-grandchildren, Whitney Ashworth Dunn, William Chad Hensley, Laura Hensley Cythers, Dustin Templeton, Joel Templeton, Talea Templeton Morelock; sisters, Judy Anderson Tickle and husband, Garland, Jewel Jackie Anderson Smith and husband, Herbert "Smitty"; his adopted children, Israel and Amanda Chapuz; his adopted grandchildren, Darby Chapuz Potts and Daisy Chapuz; his very special nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law along with his special companion, "Fancy". Calling hours will be held on Thursday (March 26, 2015) from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport. A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday (March 26, 2015) at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mark Kilbourne and Rev. Charles Kilbourne, officiating. Music will be provided by Rev Mark Kilbourne and Daisy Chapuz. A military graveside service will be conducted by Hawkins County Color Guard following the funeral at Oak Hill Cemetery with Charles West, Jr., David Smith, Gene Austin, Chris Carmack, Heath Moore and Darrell Baldwin serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathan Lawson, Douglas Anderson, Michael Hayes, Michael Austin, Israel Chapuz, Bobby Brooks, Mark McCarty and Larry Lyall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport is serving the Anderson family.
