Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory
C. L. Neil Hollomon
August 26th, 1930 - December 21st, 2020
Cornelius Leonard (Neil) Hollomon passed away peacefully at home on Monday, December 21, 2020 surrounded by loved ones. His viewing will be on Sunday, December 27, 2020, from 3:30pm to 5:00pm at Heritage Funeral Home in Warner Robins, Georgia. Face masks are required, and safe social distancing is in place. A private, family-only service celebrating his life is scheduled for a later date. Neil was born to the late Gurvis Milton Hollomon and Demie Collins Hollomon of Wellston, Georgia on August 26, 1930. He was the remaining survivor of the 52 founding residents of Wellston, which is now Warner Robins. Neil attended Bonaire High School and led his basketball team, the Wildcats, to numerous victories. He then attended and graduated Georgia Military College in Milledgeville where he was promoted to the grade of Master Sergeant. Neil later received his Bachelor of Science in Education from Georgia Southern College. In 1950, Neil married his wife of 61 years, Rosalyn Anderson Hollomon. Soon after, he began his career in real estate working for the (Charlie) Williams Realty Corp. of Warner Robins. Neil later established Hollomon Homes Realty Company as a real estate developer, broker, general contractor, and consultant. He supervised the development of custom homes, apartments and condos, and commercial buildings for nearly 60 years in Warner Robins and Houston County. Neil served his community in numerous ways. In addition to being a charter member of Central Baptist Church in Warner Robins, he served as a member and chairman of the Houston County Board of Education. Neil was an active member of Shirley Hills Baptist Church. He was also on the Houston County Hospital Authority for Warner Robins and Perry and was instrumental in establishing medical facilities in Houston County. Later in his career, Neil was a beloved teacher and educator for Houston County schools as well as the DCT Coordinator at Northside High School. He enjoyed coaching youth basketball and assisting with the Warner Robins Swim Teams. As an avid WRHS Demon and NHS Eagles fan, Neil could be found sitting on either side of the stadium. Anyone who spent time with Neil knew that he loved stories. As a prolific storyteller, he recalled tales of past and present; of life lived as a boy in Wellston; as a fisherman and hunter; as a builder and educator; as a traveler and an avid reader of history; as a lover of birds and as a jokester. He could additionally be relied upon as an encyclopedia of information on just about anything. Throughout his life, Neil was a devoted and loving family man who was an inspiration to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. After the death of his first wife, Rosalyn, Neil met and married long-time resident of Warner Robins, Mary Forbes Hollomon, in 2013. His wife, family, and friends will deeply miss his presence and treasure the memories of his life, love, and service to others. Survivors include his wife of seven years, Mary Forbes Hollomon; his children Stephen Neil (Pam) Hollomon, Rose Marie Cole, Nancy (Jon) Hollomon-Peede, Cathy H. (Joel) Compton, and Victor Bryan Hollomon; his grandchildren Charles Nicholas Cole, Hayley Marie (Tyler) Trowell, Kyle Blake Hollomon, Tyler Janson (Caroline) Hollomon, Bryson Neil Hollomon, Caroline Sophia McEntee, Somerset Kea Peede, and Elizabeth Rose Hollomon; and his great-grandchildren Asa Peyton Miller and Jackson Isaiah Hollomon. Neil is preceded by his parents Gurvis Milton Hollomon and Demie Collins Hollomon; his sister Marion Hollomon Allen; and his late wife, Rosalyn Elise Anderson Hollomon.
