Sue was born July 10th, 1944 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to parents Irby and Freda Owens. The Owens family moved to Bakersfield when Sue was just a baby, and Sue lived most of her life there. The 4th of 5 children, Sue is survived by her Brothers Irby and Ronald, and Sister Ruby. Preceding her in death were her parents, brother Leon, and oldest son Rory Lewis. Sue is also survived by her youngest son John, Daughter-in-Law Kristi, Grandchildren Genevieve and Jacob, as well as numerous nieces, Nephews, friends and extended church family at Harvest Free Will Baptist Church of Bakersfield, CA. Sue was a graduate of South High School in Bakersfield, class of 1962. She was especially proud that her son John graduated the same school exactly 30 years later. She was amused that teachers she had in school were John’s school administrators. Sue was very proud of her South High Heritage and celebrated 50 years as a graduate in 2012. A “Rebel” for her entire life, she wore her class ring right to the end. Sue worked her entire career as a parts & service manager for various TV & Appliance companies in Bakersfield, Including Booths, Grady’s TV Repair, Hollis TV, and Urners. Sue had a few lifelong loves: Dr. Pepper, chocolate, bowling and her first love, the “King”, Elvis Presley. She enjoyed his music right up to her passing. Sue passed away the evening of September 17th, 2014 in Tacoma, WA, after relocating there in 2012 to be with family. Sue passed from a short battle with Lung Cancer. She died peacefully in her sleep.
