Callina Satterfield died October 12, 2021, in the presence of beloved family. She was born in Menominee, Michigan. Callina and her family lived in Marinette, Wisconsin and moved to Charlotte, North Carolina when she was a young child. Callina was a single mother to her daughter, Christie, and proudly worked fulltime to finance, attend, and graduate from Central Piedmont Community College and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She subsequently spent her 31-year career at The McLeod Addictive Disease Center (Originally named Open House) in Charlotte. When Christie became a preteen, Callina purchased her first home and developed a new passion for interior decorating. She thoroughly enjoyed weekends shopping either alone but often with her sister Bunny and scouring interior decorating magazines for ideas. Callina enlisted the help of her father, and later her brother Kit to repair and remodel her home to just the way she wanted it. Callina so proudly created a beautiful and welcoming home to all who visited. She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching television shows, going to see movies, dining out with friends and family, and hosting and cooking for many over the years. Callina loved dogsespecially her dog Cindy whom she and Christie were blessed with for over 14 years. Once Cindy passed over the rainbow bridge, Callina developed a love and began caring for the numerous wild birds in her yard. She lovingly purchased many bird baths (some heated) and religiously cleaned and filled them with fresh water every couple of days. Callina was a beloved member of St. Peters Episcopal Church in Charlotte. She genuinely loved and cared for everyone she met and was loved by so many peoplefamily, neighbors, countless friends, and recent caregivers. One friend from Callinas church stated succinctly, "She was definitely one of the kindest, gentlest souls that I have met on this lifes journey." Callina was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Tessie, nephew, Sean, and great nephew, Max. Callina is survived by her cherished and devoted daughter, Christie, favorite (even though only) son-in-law, Greg, and her most loved and adored grandson, Matthew, of Charlotte, NC. Callina is also survived by her dear siblings: Joe (Elaine), Bunny, Patricia (John), Gene (Gerry), Lois, Steve, Kit (Jill), and Lee (Robert). Callinas extended family also includes nephews, nieces, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many loved cousins and relatives. Callinas memorial service will be held at St. Peters Episcopal Church, Saturday, October 30th, at 11:00 AM followed by internment of ashes in the church garden.
