Calvin Lee Brown, Jr. passed away on October 18, 2021. Calvin was born to Calvin Lee Brown, Sr. and Sandra Merritt Samuels on October 11, 1968 in Columbia, SC. Calvin is preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Costa Brown, and Fred and Louise Merritt; and his father, Calvin Brown, Sr. Calvin is survived by his mother, Sandra Merritt Samuels (Charles Samuels); and his daughters, Morgan Marie Pratt and Emma Grace Brown; as well as a dear family friend, Betsey Pickle. Calvin was a charitable and giving man. He spent the last 40 years living in Memphis, TN where he volunteered at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. During this time, he also gave much of his time as a referee for various youth sports. Calvin made his career working as an executive security agent. He was a lifelong SC Gamecock fan, even during his time in TN. He was a devoted family man who loved and cared for all of those who were close to him. During the last two years, he came home to Columbia to care for relatives. Calvin will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A visitation will be held at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington on Friday, October 22, 2021 from 10:30am–1:00pm. A funeral service will be held at the Christ's Sanctified Holy Church in Perry, GA on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 2:00pm, with a visitation to take place at 1:00pm that same day. Burial will follow the funeral service at the Christ's Sanctified Holy Church Campground in Perry, GA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.
