Decorated veteran Cameron Vaughn Amuso died on June 13th, 2024. He was 35 years old.
Cameron is survived by his parents Mark and Amy; children Lilianna, Maverick, Ayden and Olivia; brothers Beau, Travis and Pearson; many aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers in arms, and former wife Molly. He was preceded in death by grandparents Paul and Gertrude Normandin and Guy and Judy Amuso.
Cameron was born on August 3rd in Sarasota Florida.
He graduated from The Sarasota Military Academy. He proudly served as an infantryman in the United States Army. He was a Tomahawk of the 2-23 Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division at Fort Lewis Washington where he deployed in support of Operation Iraq Freedom. While downrange, Cam earned the (CIB) Combat Infantryman’s Badge for actions upon enemy contact. He was a scout of the battalion Recon Platoon, a prestigious position only offered to the best and hardest working members of an infantry battalion. Cam also served in Schofield Barracks in Hawaii as a squad leader in the 25th infantry division, in the Wolfhound Regiment. As a member of the Tropic Lightning, he earned the coveted Air Assault Badge and Jungle Warfare tab. As quoted by his brothers in arms, “Cameron was one of the great warriors and teammates.”
Cameron also did multi-international training exercises in Australia and South Korea. Some of the positions he served as were infantry rifleman, machine gun team leader, scout reconnaissance leader, squad leader and Stryker vehicle operator.
Cameron loved all water sports, hunting, fishing, paint balling, snowboarding, drawing, and playing guitar.
He attended the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale and he worked as an editor for Shout Creative.
Cameron held the highest degree in sarcasm and wit that could make you question your own knowledge at times, pee your pants in laughter or sting you like a bee. His ability to use words in the moment to convey hidden meanings was befuddling. Cameron described himself as an epitome of hyperbole and his sarcasm will be greatly missed.
Cameron has earned his rightful place in Valhalla.
Cameron will be laid to rest at the Sarasota National Cemetery on July 5th at 10:00 a.m. followed by a celebration in his honor at the Aloft downtown Sarasota.
Rest in paradise buddy!
