Capt. Stan M. Thurston
June 21st, 1924 - May 11th, 2007
Captain Stan M. Thurston of Puyallup Washington, passed away on May 11, 2007 due to Congestive Heart Failure at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle. He was 82 years old. He was born June 21, 1924 in Seahurst Washington to Raymond G. Sr. and Margarite L. Guglielmo Thurston. He attended Anacortes High School. Stan retired in June of 1995 from Foss Maritime, where he was an Operations Manager for over 30 years. At the time of his Passing he owned and operated his own business where he was a Marine Consultant. He is survived by his loving wife and partner of 23 years, Luella M. Curtiss, Hess, Thurston of Puyallup. La-Nai (Lee) Skidmore of Tacoma, grandchildren, Brandon (Andrea) Grant, Kandice, and Karissa. Ed Hess of Puyallup, grandchildren, Kiana, Ciara, and Skyler. Deena (Kin) Traikovich, son Zackery. Mike Pieponi, Cassandra Thurston, Sierra, Jayden, and Nicholas Thurston. Sisters, Florance Palmer of Alaska, Margaret Murphy of Everett, Bonnie Gilbert of Bellingham, Sister in-law Barbara Thurston and many neicess and nephews. His Beloved son, Steve Thurston, formerly of Kiehei, Maui, Hawaii, and his brother Raymond G. Thurston Jr. formerly of Silverdale, Washington, precedes him in death. Mr. Thurston's family would like to acknowledge the loving care he received from Harborview and Swedish Providence Hospitals, also his extended family of Doctors, workers, and friends at Seattle Cardiology who took care of him for many years. Memorial will be held on May 22, 2007 at Tacoma Foss Maritime from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Foss is located at 225 E. "F" Street, Tacoma, WA. Remembrance may be made in Capt. Stan Thurston's name to Tacoma Foss Waterway Seaport Museum, 705 Dock ST. Tacoma, WA 98402.
