June 13th, 1930 - August 1st, 2018
Carl E. Frick was born June 13, 1930, in Tomah, WI. He was the youngest of Karl and Emma Berger Frick†™s 10 children. When he was 8 years old, the family moved to a dairy farm near Glenwood City in northern Wisconsin. He graduated from high school in 1949 and moved to Madison, WI, where he got a job with Rayovac Co. In 1951 Carl was drafted by the army and served two years in the Korean War. After serving in the army, he was hired by St. Paul Insurance Co. in St. Paul, MN. On January 1, 1955, Carl married Doris Wienke from Forest, WI, and they had three children together. Kathleen and Julie were born in New Richmond, WI, and David was born in St. Paul, MN. In 1966, St. Paul Insurance transferred Carl to Denver, CO, to be the Property Underwriting Manager for the five-state Rocky Mountain region. He retired from the company at the end of 1984, but later took on a part-time position at Olson & Olson Insurance to allow him the flexibility to travel and spend time outdoors †" his favorite pastimes. Carl greatly enjoyed most anything that took him outdoors, but he especially enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, hunting, hiking and gardening. His indoor hobby was woodworking. Carl and Doris were square dancers for 25 years and members of Holy Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lakewood, CO, since 1966. He was also a VFW Life member. Carl is survived by his wife Doris; sister Elsie; children Kathleen, Julie and David; and grandchildren Lindsay, Marshall, Jodie, Laurel and Timothy.
