June 27th, 1938 - November 19th, 2012
Mr. Carl J. "Pete" Kakareka Jr., 74 of Cobleskill, passed away November 18, 2012. He was born June 17, 1938 in Gloversville, son of the late Carl J. and Frances Cardella Kakareka Sr. He was educated in Gloversville schools and employed earlier in his life at the former Sears & Rowbuck store in Gloversville as a mechanic. He had also worked for a time at Garlock Cadillac Oldsmobile dealership. For the last fifteen years, he had been housing manager for the Colonial Village in Cobleskill. "Pete" as he was known, enjoyed baseball and football, but especially loved golf. He played regularly at Fox Run and Hales Mills. He also looked forward to the Saratoga racing season. Pete was passionate about cats. His loved extended to the many strays he would never turn away or fail to help in any way he could. His great compassion went well beyond cats. He was well known for always thinking of others first. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Sheri and Brian Campbell of Carver, MA. He was pre-deceased by a sister Helen Valachovic.A memorial visitation will be held from 1-3 pm on Wednesday November 21, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St. Gloversville. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley, PO Box 40, Howes Caves, N.Y. 12092.
