Carmela Rose Castorina

Carmela Rose Bottaro Castorina went home to be with the Lord on October 13, 2017. She will always be remembered as a very special person. Carmela was a loving and devoted wife to her husband, John, deceased in 1977, a wonderful mother to her six children, Anna Davi, Sherry O'Donnell Eckerson, Jeanette Odenbrett, John Castorina(Cathy), Natalie Shook(Steve), and Joseph Castorina(Fran). She was blessed with fourteen grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren. She was everything a mother should be: kind, caring, encouraging, sacrificial; always teaching and guiding with Godly wisdom. She was a wonderful, generous friend to many- a peacemaker. Carmela was a devoted sister to her brother, Tom Bottaro(Angie) and a compassionate and charitable Christian and citizen. She was the total expression of the proverbs 31 woman..."Her children will rise up and bless her..." she and her husband John were the proprietors of Lou's Fish Grotto on Fisherman's Wharf for many years, started by her parents, Lou and Sarah Bottaro. They made many friends and served some of the best seafood meals on the Monterey Peninsula. We want to express our sincere thanks and deep appreciation to Donna and Anita, her wonderful nurses, who went above and beyond with the care and love they gave to our mom. We will always be grateful to them for their support and comfort they gave to our mom and us. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 9:30am at San Carlos Cathedral. Private family burial will follow. Reception will be held at San Carlos Cathedral Hall immediately following the service.
