Carmen I Cardone
August 11th, 1935 - November 14th, 2022
Carmen Idalia Cardone, age 87 passed away on Monday, November 14 2022. Carmen was born August 11, 1935 in Santurce, Puerto Rico. Carmen was preceded in death by her husband, Peter F. Cardone; siblings, Elaine (Henry) Bolywn, Angel (Madeline) Benitez, Eugene (Debbie) Benitez. She is survived by her son, Anthony (Elizabeth) Cardone, daughter Diane (John) Cardone-Jackson; grandchildren, Stephanie Cardone, Stephen Jackson, Vincent Jackson, Gabriella (Logan) Forsyth, Christina Jackson, Sophia Cardone; siblings, Marie (Mickey), Celeste (Kenneth) Hampton, Jose Benitez; and many nieces and nephews. Carmen was married 52 years to her beloved husband Peter. They lived and had many friends in New York, Pennsylvania, and finally retired to Florida. Carmen loved Florida the most because the climate reminded her of her childhood living in Puerto Rico. She was very proud of her ancestry from Puerto Rico and Spain and spoke of them often. Carmen had many hobbies and interests including dancing, gardening, bowling, baking, decorating, shopping, and her most favorite, socializing. She was a real social butterfly. She loved anything chocolate. She loved wearing the color red and loved yellow flowers. Carmen was so very proud of her children and grandchildren for all of their achievements in life. Carmen always had an optimistic attitude in life even after receiving her terminal pancreatic cancer diagnosis in December 2020. She hid the news bravely from most everybody except her immediate family. She courageously endured the cancer and chemotherapy while also developing an advanced form of dementia before finally succumbing to the disease on Monday, November 14, 2022. God mercifully took her without pain and from within the comfort of her own home where she had been lovingly cared for by her son, Anthony, his wife Elizabeth and daughter, Diane for her last two years battling her sickness. She was not alone as she was comforted knowing that her children and her grandchildren were always with her throughout her battle. The road was rough the last two years but she is now truly home.
