Warner Robins, GA- Carmen Gordo Hicks, 53, passed away suddenly on January 4, 2019. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 12, 2019 1:00PM in Newton Chapel at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. Mrs. Hicks was born March 23, 1965 to the late Carlos Gordo Sobrino and the late Carmen Dolores Molina on the island of Tenerife of the Canary Islands. She was an Administrative Assistant for the English and Math Departments at Mercer University for 18 years. Carmen was also a Certified Fitness Instructor at Mercer and the Navicent Health Wellness Center. She was passionate about participating in Spartan Obstacle Course events. Carmen loved animals and always found the time to rescue a pet in need. When new students would come to Mercer, it was her personal mission to mentor as many of those students as possible to become the adults they were meant to be. The absolute joy of her life was her family whom she loved dearly. Carmen was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and will be missed by everyone who knew her. She is preceded in death by her parents and her favorite uncle, Tio Miguel. Carmen’s memory will be cherished forever by her husband of 19 years, Arthur Hicks of Warner Robins; two children, Yolanda Strudwick of Warner Robins and Carlos Strudwick of Texas; two step children, Michael Hicks (Kristin) and Kyle Hicks (Charity) both of Tennessee; one grandchild, Luke Hicks; two sisters, Mirisa Gordo Ramos (Javier) of the Canary Islands and Maria Smith-Hartnett (Todd) of Tennessee; several nieces and nephews; and a host of aunts and cousins in Spain and Canada. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Critter Fixer Veterinary Hospital of Byron, 202 GA Hwy 49S, Byron, GA 31008 or to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, P.O.
