November 6th, 1925 - December 4th, 2017
Carol A. Rollins, 92 A memorial service for Carol A. Rollins, 92, a resident of Albuquerque, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 11, 2017 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 300 Gold Ave. SE, Albuquerque, New Mexico. The family will host a reception immediately following the service in the fellowship hall behind the church. Ms. Rollins passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at the Center for Ageless Living in Los Lunas, New Mexico. Carol A. Rollins was born November 6, 1925 in Cottonwood Falls, Kansas the daughter of Roy and Lillian Wilcox. She led a varied life starting as a homemaker and Korean War wife in California. She relocated to Roswell with her two children, Jimi Sue and Michael, in 1952 to rejoin her parents who had moved there from Kansas. While in Roswell she worked as a lab technician at a local dairy, a bookkeeper and technician for a veterinarian, an accountant for a contractor working on the missile silos constructed around Roswell, and settled in for a long career in the oil industry as an accountant first with Anderson Oil, then Read and Stevens, and finally with Bob Armstrong at Armstrong Energy. Through her oil job she became very active in Desk and Derrick, traveling all over the country, presenting at conferences, writing articles for the newsletter, and serving as a club officer and president for many terms. One of her fondest memories was traveling the Alaska pipeline from Prudhoe Bay to Valdez, Alaska. She spoke of it often and pulled out the picture albums at every opportunity. Her home is filled with memorabilia from her oil days. Her daughter, Jimi Sue Rodgers, often accompanied her on the trips. Mama, grandma, and great-grandma will be missed by her extensive family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Geraldine Meyers, her brother, Skip Wilcox, and her husbands, James H. Rusk, Jr. and J. B. Rollins. Tragically, her daughter, Jimi Sue Rodgers, also preceded her in death. Ernie Beck was a constant companion and helpmate during her time in Albuquerque and he also preceded her in death. Surviving family – Carol's sister Connie Crawford; sister-in-law Zelma Wilcox; her son-in-law James S. Rodgers of Albuquerque and his three sons James (Jay) Rodgers, his wife Veronica, and six children; Phillip Rodgers, his wife Sharon, and four children; Robert Rodgers, his wife Valerie, and two children; Carol's son Michael Rusk, his wife Deborah of New Market, Maryland and Michael's seven children Greg Rusk, his wife Sarah, and three children in Arlington, Virginia; Geoff Rusk, his wife Bridget, and four children in Eldersburg, Maryland; Kevin Rusk, his wife Tecky, and four children in Fostoria, Ohio; Stephanie Daniels, her husband Doug, and three children in Sykesville, Maryland; Suzanne Jackson, her husband Steve, and three children in Eldersburg, Maryland; Daniel Rusk, his wife Becky, and two children in Westminster, Maryland; and David Rusk, his wife Salene, and two children in Eldersburg, Mary
