Carol L. Santon

Carol L. Santon, 77, of Amsterdam, passed away Monday October 14, 2019 at Albany Medical Center Hospital with her family at her side. Born in Yonkers, NY on May 26, 1942 a daughter of the late G. Walter and Emily C. Hofmann Johnson. She was a resident of Amsterdam most of her life. She was a 1961 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam. She went on to earn an Associate’s Degree in Fashion Merchandising/Retail Management at Becker College in Worcester, Massachusetts. Carol worked for several years as a clerk for the New Paris Shop and Holzheimer & Shaul department store in Amsterdam. She also worked for a time as a credit reporter in her family’s business, the former Amsterdam Credit Bureau. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, especially her son and grandchildren. Carol enjoyed listening to music, watching classic movies, solving crossword puzzles and caring for her beloved pets. Survivors include her son, Douglas L. Santon and his wife Dawn, two cherished grandchildren, Colin and Charles Santon of Perth, NY, dear cousins Robert Bayer of Ardsley, NY and Gloria Bayer of Yonkers, NY, and Helen Secor of Murrells Inlet, SC, wife of Carol’s dear cousin, Jim Secor (predeceased). A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday October 20, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY with Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis presiding. Private interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Amsterdam. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Montgomery County SPCA, PO Box 484, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
