Carol Scharff of Chico passed away on December 20, 2013 at the age of 78. Carol was born July 25, 1935 to Frank and Fern Scharff of Stanley, Idaho. She graduated from Hailey High School, Hailey ID in 1953. After receiving her R.N., she worked at Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City and St. Anthony's Hospital in Denver . From 1968-69, as a Captain, she served in the Army Nurse Corps in Vietnam and Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Denver. From 1970 to 1995 Carol lived in Arlington , Virgina and worked in Washington , DC as a Public Health Nurse. Upon retiring she moved to Chico . She enjoyed golfing, and traveling. She was a member of the Bidwell Women's Golf Club. She is survived by her sister Ann Ryther; a brother Timothy Scharff of Boise, ID and nine nieces and nephews; Keith Ryther, Donna Hutchison, Nancy Young, Brian Ryther, Clark Ryther, John Ryther, Patti Haefner, Vicki Hightower and Mack Scharff. A Rosary will be held on Friday, December 27, 2013 at 10:00 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Divine Saviour at 10:30 am . A private burial will take place later at Northern California Veteran's Cemetery Igo,CA. Condolences may be sent on line at Brusie FH.com
