Memorial

Carol Jean Sharratt Schneider of Caldwell, Idaho, died peacefully at her home on Feb. 22, 2016, as her four children held her hands. To honor her wishes, a graveside service is planned for 12:30 p.m. Friday at Hillcrest Cemetery, in Weiser, Idaho. It would have been her 78th birthday. Carol was born Feb. 26, 1938, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Russell Dwight Sharratt and Evelyn Mabel Lenore (Torkelson) Sharratt, both school teachers. The Sharratts eventually moved their family to Parma, Idaho, and lived in Roswell and Greenleaf before settling down in the Fruitland area. Carol met James Lee Schneider in Caldwell, where they both worked at Albertsons. They married Dec. 6, 1957, and raised their family in Southern Idaho and Eastern Oregon, moving whenever Albertsons opened a new store. In 1990, Carol and her husband moved to Weiser, where they opened Jim’s Custom Meats, which they owned until his death. Carol took pride in raising her family, which often included extended family gatherings, camping and hours playing games and laughing. She had keen skills in needlework and enjoyed hours quietly painting canvasses for herself and as gifts for others. She made dolls, doll clothes, teddy bears, slippers, mittens and stocking caps for a generation of children. She was a member of the Lady Elks. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother, Timothy Lee Sharratt. She is survived by three sons, James Lee Schneider Jr; Robert Paul Schneider (Kathryn) and Timothy Joseph Schneider (Patricia); a daughter Teresa Dawn Schneider Terry; two brothers, David Russell Sharratt (Anita) and Daniel Barton Sharratt (Cindy); and two sisters, Ruth Arlyn Sharratt Cin (Dennis), and Randene Evelyn Sharratt Craig (Thomas); seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. The family asks that donations be made in Carol’s honor to the American Diabetes Foundation by calling 1-800-DIABETES or writing to American Diabetes Foundation, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
