Carol Joanne Surls

SURLS, CAROL J. 78, passed away suddenly but peacefully in Hospice on May 25, 2009. She was born May 10, 1931 in Elkhart, Indiana. Her family meant everything to her and was her primary passion and purpose. She also had a talent for cake decorating, which she enjoyed doing for over 40 years. She touched the lives of everyone her knew her and loved her and will be greatly missed. Carol is preceded in death by her devoted husband of 58 years, Clyde, her parents, Richard and Pauline Lantz and her brother, Edward Lantz (Elkhart, IN) her son-in-law, Robert J. Porter (Monroe, WA), and her granddaughter, Karin Surls. She is survived by her 6 children: Ray Surls (Linda), Jacquie Porter, Rick Surls (Becky), Randy Surls (Helen), Janet Surls, Ron Surls (Linda); 21 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 28th at 6:00 pm at Bethany Community Church, 6240 S. Price Road, Tempe, AZ, 85283. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Carol to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower, Phoenix, AZ 85014-5656. Services under the direction of Falconer Funeral Home, 251 W. Juniper, Gilbert, AZ.
