Carole Alison Anderson

Carole A. Anderson, 80, of Greeley, passed away on December 20, 2017 in Greeley. Carole was born in Denver, to Horatio & Eva (Hilbrand) Barclay on January 22, 1937. She attended school in Denver and graduated from South High School in 1955. On June 15, 1963 in Denver, Carole married the love of her life, Don Anderson. Carole attended the University of Denver and graduated in 1959 with a Bachelor’s Degree, and received her Masters in Education in 1971. Carole went on to teach High School speech & English for over 20 years. She was elected to the Weld County School District #6 Board of Education from 1973-1978 and 1983-1991. Carole was then appointed by Governor Lamm to the State Accountability Committee for 4 years. Carole was elected to the Greeley City Council in 1995 and served until 2001. She received the Colorado Municipal League Leadership Award for 30 units of training and higher recognition for an additional 30 units of leadership training. Carole served as Chairman of the Greeley Weld County Complete Count Committee for the 2000 census and received local, state, and federal recognition for the results. She went on to receive the Citizen of the Year in 2001 from the Greeley Elks Lodge#809, and again in 2004 from the Greeley Tribune Panorama. Carole was a member of the Greeley Luncheon Optimist Club, Greeley Does Drove #216, and Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Greeley. Carole is survived by her husband; son, Kenny (Kara) Anderson; grandchildren, Haley & Koby Anderson, all of Greeley; son-in-law, Phillip Micone; grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, and Angela, all of Meridian, Idaho; and sister, Marjorie Marie Stanislaw, of Denver. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Patricia (Anderson) Micone; and sister, Beverly Barclay. A Celebration of Life will be at 1:00 pm, Sunday, January 14, 2018 at the Greeley Elks Lodge #809, 3061 W. 29th Ave, Greeley, CO 80631. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to "Greeley Elks Scholarship Fund” in care of Greeley Elks Lodge #809, 3061 W. 29th Ave, Greeley, CO 80631.
