Belchertown- Carole A. Cleveland, born on February 9, 1944, in Somerville, Massachusetts, and longtime resident of Belchertown, passed away on August 2, 2024, at the age of 80. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Carole will be deeply missed by her family and community.Carole's life was marked by her remarkable dedication to education and her passion for supporting children with special needs. She earned her Special Master's Degree for Childhood Education from the University of Massachusetts, where she was recognized on the Dean's List and became a member of the Alpha Sigma Lambda Honors Organization. Her career focused on developing individualized education programs for students with special needs throughout the state. Carole's expertise was so well-regarded that she was called upon by the Federal Government to review grants in Washington, D.C. for four years. Her contributions led to significant improvements in many communities benefiting from these grants.Among her many achievements, Carole was known for her ambitious and generous nature. She had a studious personality, always seeking knowledge and understanding. Her interests included visiting the ocean and enjoying numerous seaports with her beloved husband, Howard. Carole was also a proud member of the Whale Society, an organization reflecting her love for marine life.Carole is survived by her husband of 50 years, Howard Cleveland; her daughter, Liquetta Smith; her sons, Larry Noyes, Timothy Noyes, and Robert Noyes; and her grandchildren, Whitney Smith, TJ Smith, Aaron Smith, Amber Lopez, and Jason Lopez. She leaves behind seven great-grandchildren who will carry her legacy forward, as well as her nephew, John (Linda) Dease, and her dear friend and extended family member, Pam Noffke.A period of visitation will be held on August 9, 2024, from 2-4pm at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Carole's name to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
