In Loving Memory of Carolyn Louise Allison

Carolyn came into the world on her grandparents’ 30th wedding anniversary, on their back porch, in the Mohave Desert on October 18, 1940.  At age 83, she went home on Good Friday, March 29, 2024, at her place in Pleasant Hill. She married Phil Allison on June 11, 1960.  They had been married over 63 years.

She earned her Bachelor and Masters’ degrees at the U of O, with enough hours for her PHD. Carolyn taught school at the Creswell Middle School for 26 years, and was also the school counselor during her last 12 years.  She was an amazing teacher, bringing students up an average of two grade levels in English each year! She was head of the English department of the school for 11 years, and head of the district for 7 years. She was also an exercise instructor for LCC, and an instructor for the Red Cross.

She volunteered for the Lane County District Attorney’s Victim Service Program, putting in thousands of hours for 9 years.  During that time she was able to share her compassionate heart for those grieving from the Thurston High School shooting of 1998. Upon retirement, she became a travel agent. She and her husband, Phil, did quite a bit of traveling abroad.

Carolyn was ambitious, with many hobbies including: reading, oil and acrylic painting, crocheting, raising exotic irises, horseback riding, and cooking.  For many years, her and her daughter, Cathee would bless many loved ones and friends with homemade candies and cookies. She was well known for her incredible fudge!

She is also fondly thought of for her keen wit, and love of dogs. Mostly we will remember her for her love of God, and for leading by example- even when tried by fire. She was not one to complain, no matter how tough things were, and she stuck with her commitments.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick K. BeeBee, mother Mary Elizabeth Beacham, and sister Sylvia Nikitins.  She is survived by her husband Philip Lloyd Allison, daughter Catherine (Kevin) Bethel, brother Fred Earl BeeBee, and sister Mary Loucille Holden, grandchildren Philip D. and Allison A. Bethel.
