Carolyn Mary Evans

Carolyn Evans (Carol), 67, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2017, following a brief illness. She most recently resided at Guardian Angel Assisted Living Facility on Merritt Island in Florida, but was originally from Andover, Massachusetts before relocating to Melbourne, Florida, several years ago. Carol was educated at Presentation of Mary Academy in Methuen, Massachusetts and graduated with a teaching degree in Elementary Education from Cardinal Cushing College in Brookline, Massachusetts. She received a Masters in Library Sciences from Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts. An avid reader, Carol especially enjoyed mysteries and working on challenging word puzzles and games. While growing up, she loved to playfully tease her younger siblings with her extensive vocabulary. Carol also cherished her time with family, and enjoyed family gatherings, nature walks, bird watching, and beach vacations. She was gifted with a wonderful dry wit. The eldest of eight children, she was a gentle, sweet daughter and sister and will be dearly missed by her family. Predeceased by her father, James B. Evans, Jr., and a sister, Catherine E. LeClaire, she is survived by her mother Elizabeth S. Evans of Melbourne, Florida; sisters Nancy and husband John Machuzak of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Elizabeth Evans of Melbourne, Florida; brothers Dr. James B. Evans and wife Mary of Viera, Florida; Martin W. of West Palm Bay, Florida; Daniel L. and wife Maryann of Rockledge, Florida; William M. and wife Janie of Haverhill, Massachusetts; a brother-in-law, Rene LeClaire of Los Alamos, New Mexico, as well as many nieces and nephews. Carol was a devout Catholic and a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Melbourne. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated there on Wednesday, December 6th at 11:00 a.m. She will be interred at Christ the Savior Cemetery in Cocoa Beach, Florida.
