Carolyn Muse Smith

Carolyn Muse Smith, 87, passed peacefully to her Heavenly home on February 12, 2016. She was born in Charlotte, NC to Georgia Rogers Muse and John McCallie Muse. Carolyn graduated from Central High School class of 1946 and attended Appalachian State College. She met her beloved Buddy Smith while attending Central, they married in 1952 and had three children that she adored. Carolyn will be remembered as a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who put her family above everything. Carolyn was a long-time member of Amity Presbyterian Church. Before having children she worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company and when her children were older she worked in retail sales at Ivey"s at SouthPark Mall and then Eastland Mall for many years. Carolyn is survived by her family, Amber Smith Smith and companion Howard Plattenburger, Jr., Brick Smith and wife Brenda, Heather Smith Adams and husband Bill; grandsons Trey and Troy Adams, Logan Smith and wife Jessie; great grandchildren Mariaha and Bryson Adams, Violet and Knox Smith; brother Oren Muse and wife Trudy, and sister-in-law Marguerite Muse; and nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind long-time friends Elsie Cooke Weil and Barbara Graham. Her parents, her husband of 54 years, Buddy, a brother John Muse, sisters Maryon Friefelder and Charlotte Muse, and a grandnephew Brent Martin preceded her in death. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 17 from 6:30"8:30 p.m. at J.B. Tallent Funeral Service at 1937 Sharon Amity Road, and a service to celebrate Carolyn"s life will be held on Thursday, February 18 at 2:00 p.m. at Amity Presbyterian Church at 2831 N.
