Catherine Birdell Porter

Catherine Birdell Porter Birdell, (Birdie) beloved mother and grandmother passed away peacefully at age 89 on June 11, 2017 with all three of her children at her side for her last 3 days. Birdie was born October 9, 1927 in Sioux City, Iowa. After high school she graduated as a lab and x-ray technologist and married Tracy Porter in 1948. They had 3 children, Janeen (husband Jim Mount), Jeff and Rick (Vancouver). Wonderful memories of family camping trips through the state parks from the Midwest to California were made each summer. The family moved to Vancouver in 1969 where she worked at Vancouver Clinic until retirement. Here she formed many of her close friendships. Living in Washington she developed her love of hiking, had many visits to Cannon Beach and even started bicycling in her 50’s. Most fond memories were made with her kids and grandkids at “Grama Birdie’s pool.” She will be remembered for her outgoing, fun loving, warm personality. She adored her grandchildren Megan (husband Michael Neu), Tyler, Travis, Jesse, Chelsea and great-grandson Wyatt. A private family service will to be held at a later date.
