Beers and Story - Belchertown
Catherine Louise Reis
July 6th, 1944 - June 21st, 2004
"Catherine ( Beaudoin) Reis, 59, of Bemis Road, died Monday at home after a long illness. Born in Holyoke, July 6, 1944 she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Mildred ( Astley) Beaudoin. Catherine grew up in South Hadley and was a 1962 graduate of its high school. She furthered her education at Holyoke Hospital School of Nursing, where she received her nursing degree in 1965. She spent all of her life in South Hadley and Holyoke and was integral in her high school class reunion planning. She worked as a Certified Registered Nurse in both the Labor and Delivery and Women’s Evaluation Treatment Units for 38 years at Baystate Medical Center, before retiring in August 2003. Catherine spent many volunteer hours at the K of C Council 4044 where she worked on the Spaghetti Suppers, and the annual Thanksgiving meal. She also volunteered for many years for the Children’s Miracle Network through Baystate Medical Center. She will be fondly remembered as a person who not only loved her family, the beach and reading, but also her two cats Mollie and Krissy. She will be deeply missed by her son David of Holyoke and her daughter Karyn McDermott and husband Todd, with whom she lived. She was affectionately known as “Mimi” to her two grandchildren, Moira Catherine and Matthew James. She also leaves her former husband David D. Reis of Chicopee, along with aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be Thursday from the Beers and Story South Hadley Funeral Home at 9:00 a.m. followed by a liturgy of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church in Holyoke, followed by burial in St. Jerome Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Donations may be made in her memory to Children’s Miracle Network Development Office, 280 Chestnut Street, Springfield, 01199. "
