Cathleen Baldwin was born January 24, 1948, to her mother and father, Mary and Jean Horn, and was lovingly raised by her grandparents, Ëmma and Jimmy Carbone. She grew up playing the accordion, dancing, and enjoyed synchronized swimming.
In her young adulthood, she was well known for her singing and was part of a world-renowned singing group called the Sweet Adelines. Cathy traveled all over the country and parts of the world, signing and competing with the group. The group has a record on vinyl that will live on forever. The stage loved her; she was stunning, vibrant, beautiful and multi-talented. Her passion for music continued into her older years as she enjoyed Karaoke and you could always hear her humming a tune.
Cathy graduated from the University of Washington with a BA in Communications. She was always proud and loyal to the purple and gold! She held many professions in her lifetime, the most prestigious position within the Social Security Administration, lobbying for the rights of the disabled.
Cathy has two children and four grandchildren. She was known as Nana Banana by her grandchildren, who she adored and spent a lot of time adventuring with. She enjoyed traveling and had many adventures during her years yachting. She was a lover of the beach, the sun, and the water. She was also well known for her many talents, including her amazing Italian cooking. She had creativity in crafting of all things; her incredible style and knack for classic design could be seen all around her.
Cathy was a spectacular host and always had a way of making all people feel comfortable and welcome. She was well known for her love and excitement of Christmas. You simply cannot think of Christmas and not think of her joy (and her beautiful tree). She had many longtime friends and people who adored her, and most would agree that she was one of a kind. She had a youthful, fun, and lively spirit about her that lit up every room she entered.
Heaven welcomed an angel on Thursday June 29, 2023 at 11:14 a.m. as Cathy transitioned peacefully with both of her children by her side.
Cathleen is survived by her son, Troy Graham (grandchildren, Vincent and Emma Graham); and by her daughter; Julie Canto-Smith, Scot Smith (grandchildren, Ryder and Nova Canto-Smith); her siblings, Diane Lopez, Bill Horn, Bob Horn, Darlene Deyo, Denise Olsen, Debra Miller and families; her final great love, Blayne Leingang (and family); and her best friend and sister of 71 years, Claudia Richardson (and family).
Cathleen is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
