Cathy Hill Cook, 67, of Charlotte, North Carolina, stepped through heaven’s gates on Tuesday, February 6, 2024. She was a strong Christian woman that loved Jesus with all her heart. Born on February 11, 1956, and raised in Charlotte, she embraced her entire life in the city she called home. She graduated from East Mecklenburg High School with the class of 1974. Cathy is preceded in death by her father, John Walton Hill, Jr.; and brother, John Walton Hill, III. She is survived by her loving mother, Shirley Hill; her children; Jason Cook (Julie), Ashley Grooms (Collin), and Matthew Cook (Jackie); her grandchildren, Nora and Caroline Cook, Avery Grooms, and David and Carson Cook; her siblings; Susan Butler (Mark), Barry Hill, and David Hill; and many nephews, nieces, great nephews, and great nieces. Cathy was a loving mother, friend, and most important to her, a grandmother. Her 5 grandchildren were her world, and she loved every moment she spent with them. She always had a passion for animals, especially her beloved horse, Fair Lady, and her dog, Puppy Wuppy. She loved collecting rocks and other treasures from nature, passing down that passion to many of her grandchildren. had a presence that lit up any room and always had a story to tell that would make you laugh until you cried. She was an incredible writer and artist, focusing her artistic abilities on the beauty of nature and the “moment of the day” which occurred every sunset. A service celebrating Cathy's life will be held at 11:00 A. M. on Friday, February 16, 2024, in the chapel of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Home, 1111 East Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28203, with Dr. John Harrill officiating. Following the celebration of life, there will be a private interment service at Sharon Memorial Park. Click here to watch the service through livestream.
