CECIL WINFIELD TRINE Cecil W. Trine, age 88, of Marshall died Sunday, September 3, 2006 at his home. Mr. Trine was born on October 18, 1917 in Albion to Clarence and Bessie Adelle (Leach) Trine. He had been a life long resident of the Marshall and Albion areas. He attended the Albion Public Schools. During World War II, he served in the United States Army. Mr. Trine was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Melva Bernice Taylor in January 1958. He then married the former Ellen Ann Ivans on July 16, 1958 in Marshall. She preceded him in death on February 9, 1992. On March 14, 1992, he married the former Marjory J. (Brown) Dalton at the Union United Church of Christ in Tekonsha. She died March 14, 2006. Cecil enjoyed a fifty year employment with the Corning Glass Company in Albion, where he held the title of supervisor. He retired in the late 1970's when the plant closed. Mr. Trine loved music and could play several instruments. He and his wife, Marjory, were a familiar musical duet, playing at the Fredonia Grange and the Gospel Barn in Reading, MI. He was a member of the Harmonica Club of Battle Creek. Cecil was an exceptional woodworker, having built several homes. He also kept very busy working with his hands, making thousands of blue bird houses. He enjoyed sharing them with his family and friends. He is survived by a sister, Ruth Jean Ralston of Albion; 7 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren; 6 step-children. He was also preceded in death by daughters, Janet Gay Bedwell and Ginger E. Trine; sisters, Edith L. Broomell, Lois E. Cravens and Bessie A. Trine; brothers, Lawrence A. Trine and Darold L. Trine; and a step-son. The family will receive friends Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held 11:00 am Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Lyon Lake Cemetery. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to the Fredonia Grange or to the Lyon Lake Methodist Church. Assistance with memorials is available at the funeral home.
