My Life Story Charleen Marie was born March 15, 1937 in Seattle, Washington to Charles and Eva (Carmel) Russell, joining her siblings Bill and Mary Louisa. She entered heaven on November 21, 2017. Charleen grew up in Seattle and graduated from Lincoln High School and the University of Washington earning her degree in nursing. She met her husband David Matheson at the University of Washington where he was attending medical school. After graduation in 1960, Dave and Charleen married and moved to Galveston, Texas where Charleen worked as an RN while Dave pursued his internship. Their first son Mick was born in Galveston. The US Navy snapped up Dave in 1962, and the family spent time in Oxnard, California, and Bremerton, Washington, where second son Tim was born. The Mathesons moved to Seattle in 1965, where Dave pursued his residency in radiology, and third son Rick joined the family. Charleen and Dave moved to Caldwell, Idaho in 1967 where they put down roots. Charleen was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She constantly ferried her boys to early morning swimming practices, football and baseball practices, tennis matches, and Boy Scout meetings. She was a wonderful grandmother who doted on her seven grandchildren. Charleen was an avid skier and skied well into her 60’s. Dave and Charleen made several ski trips with the “Over-the-Hill” gang and explored the ski areas of the western US and Europe. Charleen was a deeply faithful and beautiful Christian woman; a bright and angelic soul that exuded internal beauty, love for all people, kindness, extraordinary warmth, and genuine compassion for all. She was a treasured member of Chapter AU of the PEO Sisterhood, and chaired the Caldwell Beautification Committee and was a spiritual bedrock. Charleen leaves behind her sons: Mick (Michelle), Tim, and Rick (KayT); seven grandchildren: Nick, Quinn, McKenna, Jack, Molly, Marissa, and Matilda, and brother-in-law, Don (Sharon) Matheson and sister-in-law, Tanny Russell. She was preceded in death by her husband, David, her parents, Charles and Eva, and her brother, Bill and sister, Mary Louisa. Mom, your brilliant light will never go out and will live on through your family, friends, and legions of souls that you touched, softened, and healed. We love you so much. Go walk with God and soar with the angels and spread your light through the heavens. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 27, 2017 at the Meridian Assembly of God, 1830 N. Linder Rd, Meridian. A committal service will be at 1:00 PM at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, Boise with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association and/or the National Alzheimer’s Association. Remembrances may be left for the family at www.AccentFuneral.com. Services are under the direction of Accent Funeral Home, Meridian.

We Entrusted Charleen Matheson's Care To
Accent Funeral Home
A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
