Charlene C. Porter

Charlene Porter, 85, went to be with the Lord on April 27, 2014, after an extended illness due to several falls. She was a native of Chicago, Ill and a long time resident of Boynton Beach, FL; Kingsport, TN and Mt. Carmel, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stanley C. Porter; two brothers, Robert and Charles Clendening; grandparents, several aunts and uncles. She was a bookkeeper/accountant, nursing assistant and a sales associate for Sears and Wal-Mart. Charlene loved her family, music, dancing and playing the organ. She is survived by her daughters, Jeanette L. Porter, Tammy S. Lovrekovic and husband Michael; sons, Donald Shelhamer and wife Cindy, Michael J. Shelhamer and wife Carol; along with several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Burial will be in Boynton Beach, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 950 W. Faris Road, Greeneville, SC 29605; Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675 or to Paralyzed Veterans of America, 801 Eighteenth Street, NW, Washington, DC 20006-3517.
