Charles Barnard, 87, of Lexington, South Carolina, went to be with the Lord in Heaven on October 21, 2020. He was born in Camden, North Carolina, to the late Mack Barnard and Pearl Heath Barnard. The day after graduating from Moyock High School in 1952, Charles enlisted in the United States Navy where he honorably served his country until his retirement in 1977. After retiring from the Navy, he went to work for the Department of Defense at Fleet Technical Support Center Atlantic, retiring in 1996. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Sarah Frances Barnard; his son, Charles M. Barnard of West Columbia, SC; his daughter, Laura B. Alexander of West Columbia, SC; and former daughter-in-law, Deborah St. Lawrence of Fairview, TN. He is also survived by five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A private graveside funeral service with Military Honors will be held on October 27, 2020, at Fort Jackson National Cemetery with Brother Paul Drake officiating. Pallbearers will be K.C. Alexander, Kyle Alexander, Christopher Card, Caleb Card, Ryan Herchek and Hudson Herchek. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Nashville Rescue Mission, 639 Lafayette Street, Nashville, TN 37203. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the Barnard Family.
