Charles D. Harris
March 29th, 1941 - April 29th, 2016
My Life Story Charles Harris, DPM, was a dedicated husband, father, brother, and son. Born in Douglas, WY on March 29th, 1941, he embodied the pragmatic and adventurous spirit of his beloved Mountain West. At age four, he and his family moved to Caldwell, ID, where he immediately began living the work ethic he demonstrated for the rest of his life. At age six, he started earning money for his family by picking up bottles at the rodeo. He continued working as a paper boy, a Sears mail clerk, a movie theater attendant, and a hospital orderly until graduating from the College of Idaho in 1963. He started Medical School at the California College of Podiatric Medicine in 1966. When ordered to active duty from the US Naval Reserves, he proudly served his country as a Navy medic, hospital instructor, and company commander from 1966-1968 in San Diego during the Vietnam War. He returned to and completed Medical School at the California College of Podiatric Medicine in 1972. Charles opened his own podiatry practice in Boise in 1973, where he lovingly served hundreds of patients, retiring in 1997. A man with a deep faith in God, he met his wife, Maria, on a pilgrimage to the Holy Lands. He poured his life into caring for his daughters, Angela and Nikela. His family could count on him for anything: wise counsel, a listening ear, quick wit, a day of adventure, or an intellectual discussion on nearly any topic. He retained these qualities through numerous medical struggles in the last years of his life on this earth. He spent much time traveling, avidly reading, fly fishing, and golfing. He leaves an example of gentle strength, deep compassion, and strong commitment to family and country. He will be remembered most of all for the way he loved his family and his God. Charles passed into eternal life on April 29th, 2016. He leaves behind his wife, Maria; children: Angela (Anthony) Paz and Nikela Harris; grandchildren, Nicolás Paz and baby coming in June; brother, Jack (Bonnie) Harris; sister, Cathy (Andy) Petersen; and seven nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Mark’s Catholic Community, 7960 W. Northview St., Boise, on Thursday, May 5th, at 11:30 a.m. Remembrances may be left for the family at www.AccentFuneral.com Services are under the direction of Accent Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary’s School, 2620 W. State St., Boise, ID 83702 or the Boise Rescue Mission, P. O. Box 1494, Boise, ID 83701.

Accent Funeral Home
A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
