Charles Lee Funke Charles Lee Funke at age of 94 passed away peaceful on December 23rd, 2018 in his house in Des Moines, Washington. He was born June 14, 1924, in Colorado, child of Charles Funke and Pauline (Jones) Funke. Charles was the oldest and had a younger brother, Anthony Funke. At the age of 18, he was in World War II. He was in the Battle of the Bulge. He stayed in Germany for a bit after the war. He moved to Seattle, Washington. He met his wife, Donna Hink, and married in 1963. Survived by his wife, Donna, and daughter Anna Holmes, grandchildren Christopher, Michelle, and Rachel Holmes. Other daughter April Wright Ayala, grandchildren RJ Wright, Lauren Fuller, Jesyca, Alicia Ayala. Great grandchildren Sophia and Abby Fuller, Nieces, and nephew. Charles would always go to see his Uncle and Aunt every year in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. He was a very devoted nephew. Charles was a simple man. He loved his family greatly. He was a family man. He loved gardening, boating, and cars. He was a jokester! He worked at Hytek for most of his life until he retired. He was the Head of the maintenance and chemical department.
