Charles "Carl" Grizzaffi

Mr. Charles "Carl" Grizzaffi died peacefully in Hawthorn Court Memory Care on July 25, 2016 in Phoenix, AZ at the age of 97. Carl is survived by his children, Carol, Richard, Randi and Karen; grandchildren, Louis, Jennifer, Kristen, Jeffrey, JR, Corrie, Luca and Sophia; and great-grandchildren, Katherine, Lyla, Addison and Devyn. He was preceded in death by his daughter, JoAnn and wife, Innes. Carl was born on October 19, 1918 in Cranford, NJ to Giuseppe and Antoinette Grizzaffi. He graduated from high school and attended college for several years, when he enlisted in the Army Air Force. His family remembers him as being loyal to his friends, having a good sense of humor and as a talented electrical engineer. Carl was an accomplished swimmer and often competed in the Senior Olympics, for which he earned many bronze, silver and gold medals. He was an individual who loved flying small aircraft and inventing devices with practical applications. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, August 6 at 11 AM at Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home, with a reception immediately following. Deacon Tom Caliguire will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Carl's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Alzheimer's Association at alz.org.
