Charles Edwin Nussbaum "Chuck”, age 86 was born November 21, 1930 in Pine Bluffs, Wyoming to Claude Sr. and Gladys (Reynolds) Nussbaum. Battling dementia and Alzheimer Disease, he passed away on September 15, 2017 at TRU Hospice of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado. When he was six years old, his mother passed away after the birth of twin boys leaving his gather to raise eight boys and one daughter. As he grew up, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, competitive roping and being a member of the Pine Bluffs Roping Club. He has the honor to be an out-rider for George Burgman’s chuck wagon races at the 4th of July rodeo in Greeley, Colorado. He was also an outstanding pool player. He enjoyed rodeo, the Denver Broncos, and the Colorado Rockies. Chuck attended school at Golden Prairie in Pine Bluffs, Wyoming and received his GED while in the U.S. Army. He was drafted into the Army, serving his country from April 1951 until March 1953. His overseas duty took him to Germany and when he was discharged he had attained the rank of Sergeant.\ Returning to Pine Bluffs, Chuck worked various jobs. On July 30, 1955, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Lola Nelson Werner. In his heart he always wanted to own his own ranch and farm. Moving across the Wyoming border to the Grover, Colorado area, a long story, no financial help, a lot of toil and help from God, his wife, and children, his dream became a reality. He also owned and operated REC (Rural Entertainment Center) a bowling alley in Hereford, Colorado, but farming and ranching was his passion. A partnership with his son, Paul, was formed and developed into a successful cow/calf operation. Not only was he a farmer, but a rancher. He was a member of Soapstone Grazing Association, later changed to Folsom Grazing Association. He supported his children in 4-H and FFA, serving in the Advisory Board and honored with Chapter and State Honorary Farmer Degrees. His spirit lives on through his beautiful, caring wife, Lola of 62 years and children, Karen (Howard) Archibeque of Greeley, Colorado, Charles Paul (Carla) of Grover, Colorado, Sharon (Paul) Poelma of Carpenter, Wyoming, and daughter-in –law, LeeAnn Nussbaum of Plankinton, South Dakota. Each of his children carries his determination, his kindness, his generosity, and his sense of humor. Chuck never knew a stranger; he could carry a conversation with anyone. Surviving grandchildren include Kevin (Marisa) Nussbaum of Madison, South Dakota, Steve (Anna) Nussbaum, and Bryce Nussbaum of Plankinton, South Dakota, Courtney and Lauren Archibeque of Greeley, Colorado , Shannon (Brett) Shreve of Wellington, Colorado, Tanna (Shawn) White of Oelrichs, South Dakota, Lauren Hodgson of Greeley, Colorado, Nikki (Joel) Liesman of Greeley, Colorado and John (Erica) Poelma of Cheyenne, Wyoming. Chuck also had eleven great-grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by a sister, Betty May Necklason of Sundance, Wyoming and a brother Jay Nussbaum of Cheyenne, Wyoming. He is preceded in death by a son, Marvin, his parents, his brothers, Harold "Bill”, Claude Jr., Marshall "Bink”, Wesley "Swede” and Ray Nussbaum. A brother, Kenneth Nussbaum, of Batesville, Indiana passed away a few hours after Chuck. Services will be Friday, September 22, 2017 with burial at Pine Bluffs Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. and Celebration of Life services will be at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Pine Bluffs, Wyoming.
