August 2nd, 1944 - October 30th, 2021
Mr. Charles H. Peters, 77, of Esperance, passed away on October 30, 2021 at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam, following a brief illness. Born in Amsterdam, NY on August 2, 1944, the son of Harry and Nellie Wood Peters. He was a lifelong area resident and attended local schools. Charles was a US Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1967. He was employed until his retirement at General Electric in Schenectady. Charles loved working on cars especially Hot Rods. He won a National Hot Rod Championship in Syracuse NY at one time and competed with his Hot Rod Cars across the country. He was a member of the John J. Wyszomirski Post #701 in Amsterdam. He is survived by his wife Rita Chaffin Peters of Esperance, NY. His son, Charles (Kelly) Peters Jr. of Alabama. Grandchildren Charles T.R. Peters of Alabama and Heather Peters of Buffalo, NY. Niece, Colleen (Robert), Nicholas Mason and Timothy Curtacci and Karen and John Barbato. Also several several step grandchildren and great grandchildren . A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday November 4, 2021 at 3:00Pm at the John J. Wyszomirski American Legion Post #701, 123 West Main St., Amsterdam, NY. Military Honors will be rendered promptly at 3:00PM at the American Legion. Arrangements are under the direction of the Betz, Rossi and Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
