ROBERTS, Charles Richard, “Dick”, 77, of Wesley Chapel, FL, passed away January 8, 2018, with his loving family by his side. He was born in Lancaster, SC. After being in the Navy, Dick finally settled in the Tampa Bay area in the late 1980’s. He was a proud veteran service in the United States Navy for over 25 years with two tours in Vietnam. He later became a mechanic for the U.S. Postal Service, finally retiring after 20 years. Known for always learning, he loved going to school and would always jump at the chance to learn more. He enjoyed reading, fishing, snake hunting, drawing and spending time with family and friends. He loved watching college football and was a Clemson fan. Dick is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Judy; his three daughters, Cynthia Van Zandt and her husband, James B., Christina Rivero and her husband, Carlos and Charlene Gainer and her husband, John; five grandchildren, James Van Zandt Jr. and his fiancé, Tori Martin, Charles Van Zandt and his wife, Stefanie, Kirby C. Bowers and his wife, Paula, Haley Grainer and Jordan Grainer; three great grandchildren, Sydney Van Zandt, Kayley Van Zandt and baby on the way, Corrinne Joyce Van Zandt. A funeral service will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Loyless Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service.
