Warner Robins, GA: Charles Earl Thompson, Sr., 77, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, December 17, 2007, after an lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church with burial at 2:00 PM in the Andersonville National Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Thompson was born in Tallassee, AL to the late Jessie Marvin Thompson and Maybelle Booth Thompson. He was a faithful and active member of the First United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Fildelity Sunday School Class. He retired from the United States Air Force as a Master Sergeant and as an Air Traffic Controller for over 22 years of service. Mr. Thompson also was retired from the Federal Aviation Administration where he served in Nome, Alaska and Macon. While in the service, Mr. Thompson served in several different parts of the country, such as Germany, England, Japan and Vietnam. He was a member of the NCO Club and the Pine Oaks Country Club at Robins Air Force Base. Survivors include his wife, Claire Thompson of Warner Robins, children, Charles and Valerie Thompson, Jr. of Bonaire, David Thompson of Kathleen, Debbie Rearden of Marietta, Susan and Chip Horne of Houston, TX, Adam and Yumi Thompson of Seoul, Korea, Laura Hansen of Allen, TX, brothers, Jessie M. and Naomi Thompson, Jr. of Montgomery, AL, John and Joanne B. Thompson, Sr. of Foley, AL, Fred R. Thompson of Foley, AL, sister, Betty Sue and Les Gaines of Millbrook, AL, many loving grandchildren and nieces and nephews, sisters and brothers-in-laws, Jean Murphy of Manchester, England, June and Ian McDonald of Hamshire, England and Valerie and Tony Whitby of Taunton, England. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund at 205 N. Davis Dr., Warner Robins, GA, 31093. Heritage Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
