Charlotte J. Ball
April 1st, 1923 - October 23rd, 2013
Charlotte J. Ball 4/1/1923 - 10/23/2013 Charlotte Ball, a long-time Tucson resident, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at the age of 90. Charlotte was born and raised in Winona, Minn., the younger of the two children of Harry S. and Irene (Coe) Johnson. She attended Carleton and Skidmore Colleges and married her hometown sweetheart, Roger Ball, in 1943, upon his graduation from the United States Military Academy. Together they raised four children while living throughout the United States during Roger's military career. Charlotte loved to travel, and with Roger made many trips abroad. She was especially fond of cruises and they saw much of the world on their voyages. Charlotte and Roger also belonged to Forty Niner Country Club for over thirty years, where you could find her happily playing golf or joining in a bridge game with her many friends. She also was an avid sports fan and attended many University of Arizona football and basketball games. She never missed an opportunity to wear her red U of A shirt to support the local team, and she'd always wear her "lucky pin" during March Madness. Charlotte was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution for many years and enjoyed attending their events. At home you would never find Charlotte without a good book, she would devour several in a week. She is survived by her husband, Roger Ball, and three of her four children, Nancy (Harro) Ackermann of Albuquerque, NM, and their daughter, Laura Ackermann; Roger (Kati) Ball of Sonoita, AZ, and their children, David (Alexis) Ball and Charlotte Ball; and Sarah Ball of San Diego, CA. She also has one great-grandchild, Carver Ball. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Harry S. Johnson Jr.; and her son, John S. Ball. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel.
