Charlotte Frances Gray
August 23rd, 1932 - November 18th, 2018
Charlotte Frances Gray, of Sutter Creek, CA, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at the age of 86. She was born in Grant, IA on August 23, 1932 to the late Ruth C. (Kratz) and Levi H. Struble. She was the beloved wife of Floyd V. Gray. Charlotte was raised in Onawa, IA, and relocated to CA in 1961. She first settled in Manteca, where she raised her family. She and her husband moved to Amador County in 1991. Charlotte spent most of her life caring for others. In addition to raising three daughters of her own, she was also “Mom” to stepchildren, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Her home was always open to friends, family, and neighbors, and there was always plenty of food on the table. In her own words, “If you went home hungry, it was your own fault.” When she moved to Amador County, she shifted the focus of her care to the retirement community, working at Oak Manor Retirement Home and In-Home Healthcare. Charlotte will be remembered as a selfless and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was a lover of good food, good company, jigsaw puzzles, Solitaire, and Thursday Night Bingo. Charlotte is survived by her husband, Floyd Gray, of Sutter Creek, CA; four daughters, Diane (Gary) McGinnis, of NC, Dixie (David) Carpenter, of Sacramento, CA, Pixie (Dave) White, of Escalon, CA, and Twyla Gray, of Sutter Creek, CA; son, Robert (Ciji) Armstrong, of Kelseyville, CA; and eleven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her son, Douglas Gray; and daughter, Barb Lagorio. At her request, there will be no services.
