Charlotte Lawson 1934-2023 Charlotte Lawson – A Kemah Lake, New Jersey, resident passed in her daughter’s home in Tucson, Arizona, on April 23, 2023, just shy of her 89th birthday. She was born to William and Margret Pfau on April 26, 1934, in Yonkers, New York. Charlotte spent her childhood between Yonkers and Kemah Lake, where she graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1952. During her summer stays at Kemah Lake Charlotte met the love of her life, Herbie. They were married May 16, 1954, in Branchville, New Jersey, where they started a loving family, which was her greatest joy. Charlotte and Herb moved to Newton, New Jersey, in 1962 where they raised their 6 children before moving to Oskaloosa, Iowa, and retiring in Sebastian, Florida, where Charlotte loved the socialization at Park Place. Then making a full circle, she returned to Kemah Lake. Charlotte worked as an administrative assistant in the public school systems in New Jersey and Iowa. She touched the lives of many children, including the many foster children that were brought into their home. Charlotte is survived by her daughters, Joni (Frank) Drake of Tucson; Pamela (Randy) Erteld of Blue Spring, Missouri; Jenny Perry of Indianapolis, Indiana; one son, Gene (Chris) Lawson of Solon, Iowa; daughters-in-law Neisha Lawson of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; and D’Arcy VerBeek of Oskaloosa, Iowa; her sister Ruth Cockburn of Sebastian. Florida; grandchildren Thomas Drake, Tabitha Blackstock, Courtney Spence, AJ Lawson, Tiffany Drake Buus, Jeremiah Lawson, Katherine Erteld, Devin Lawson, Steven Lawson, Stephanie Dalton, Andrew Lawson, Brett Erteld, Zachary Lawson, Sydney Lawson, and Spencer Lawson; 18 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and several special foster children. Charlotte was preceded in death by her loving husband Herbert Leroy Lawson and her sons William Roy Lawson, Steven Jon Lawson, and Aric James Lawson. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for July 9, 2023, at the Kemah Lake family home.
