Charlotte G. Lewis
January 31st, 1935 - June 17th, 2024
Charlotte left us peacefully on Monday, June 17th after a brief illness. Born in Leesburg, VA. She was the 3rd daughter of Wade and Maize Geiman.
Charlotte knew early on what she wanted to do when she got older – be a nurse. Her nursing school studies took her to Richmond, Va. She graduated Stuart Circle School of Nursing in 1956 as an RN and went to work for SCH in the operating room as assistant supervisor. Richmond is where she met her future husband, Bill Lewis. They were married in 1959 and remained so until Bill’s death in 2007.
They had 3 children along their life journey – Cooper, Dick, and Liz Anne, whom Charlotte took time away from nursing to raise. She returned to nursing until Bill started The Real Estate Book of Charlotte. His business soon grew enough to require her assistance. But she never forgot her nursing roots and always looked to help others when she could, especially as a member of her long time church of Sardis Presbyterian.
She moved to Matthews Glen in Matthews a few years after Bill’s death and made it her final home - after calling Charlotte home for over 50 years. She loved the community and the people that call Matthews Glen home too. If she wasn’t volunteering in the Goods-to-Go resale store, she was playing cards, bingo, or chicken foot with her neighbors.
She is pre-deceased by her parents, her husband, and her 2 sisters. She is survived by Cooper (and Lorie) Lewis, their children Courtney (and Ronnie) Norris, Willam Lewis, and great -grandchildren Katherine and Jon Norris; Dick (and Laurie) Lewis; and Liz Anne (and Eric) White and their children Taylor and Jackson White.
Donations in Charlotte’s memory can be made to the Matthews Glen Good Samaritan fund to help those residents that have outlived their resources. www.actsgiving.com and select the Matthews Glen Samaritan Fund in the selected fund drop-down box.
A memorial service will be held in the Matthews Glen Chapel on Friday, June 21st at 1 pm.
