Aspen Mortuaries - Lakewood
Charlotte Evelyn O'Dell
September 8th, 1932 - February 14th, 2020
With great sadness we announce the passing of Charlotte O†™Dell, beloved wife of the late Mark O†™Dell. Much loved mother of Debra Rens, Mark Rens (Donna), Douglas Rens (Julie) and Tammara Pike. Cherished grandmother of Rachael (Nathan), Zachary and Ian. Great grandmother of Mackinzie and friend to all whose lives she touched. Charlotte, age 87, passed away peacefully February 14th, 2020 after a lengthy fight with Norovirus and its subsequent complications. Charlotte was born September 8th, 1932 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Daughter of the late Joe and Della May Gilland. Dear sister of Johnny and Harold †œBud† Gilland, both preceded her in death. After graduating in 1950 from Colorado Springs High School, she married and remained in Colorado Springs until June, 1962 when she moved to Arvada, Colorado. She was a true Coloradan with a love for the Broncos, Rockies and the beautiful Rocky Mountains. In 1969, she and her children moved to St. Mary†™s Glacier. She managed the Lodge by the lake and her children enjoyed the freedom and space the area provided for 3 years. She drove them to and from school each and every day down the steep, narrow, and sometimes very snowy mountain road. The stories and memories of the family†™s time spent there are legends still told at gatherings to this day. It was during her time in St. Mary†™s and Idaho Springs that she met the love of her life, Mark O†™Dell. It was love at first sight for both of them; they married several years later and remained happily in love until his passing in 2005. After moving back to Arvada, she worked as an administrative Secretary for Stanley Structures and Kenting-Apollo Drilling. She †œretired† and provided full-time care for her grandson Ian. Charlotte lived the remainder of her life in Arvada, Colorado. She successfully raised her family alongside her devoted husband, retired and filled her home with love for decades. Charlotte lived a happy, full life as a mother, proud worker in multiple industries and homemaker. She loved to socialize and immensely enjoyed time spent with friends and family. She could cut-a-rug on the dance floor and she loved bowling with her friends and family. She had a bright presence, making friends wherever she would go with her clever sense of humor and kind manner. She loved her family and instilled in her children and grandchildren strong values that have served them well. She will be profoundly missed and forever in our hearts. All whom loved her dearly will never forget her tenacity, wit, charm and undying love and caring for them. Her courage in the end was nothing less than remarkable and will never be forgotten. "Dear Friends, with the seriousness of recent CV-19 events, the family has decided to postpone Charlotte's life celebration until further notice. We are very sorry if this causes any inconvenience. Please keep checking this website for updates, as we are hoping to have the service as soon as possible. Thank you and love you all." 'In lieu of flowers, please give someone a hug today, and every day, and tell them that you love them".
