Chelsea Layne Sorensen

December 21st, 2012

Chelsea Layne Sorensen, 22, of Twin Falls, ID, formerly of Nampa, ID, died on Friday, December 21, 2012, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Chelsea was born in Boise, ID on May 23, 1990, to Sheryl Carlson and Roger Sorensen. She grew up in the Meridian and Nampa areas. Chelsea was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many callings. She graduated from Columbia High School in 2008, graduated from Treasure Valley Community College in 2010, and was about to begin the final semester of her Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology from College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls. Chelsea became excited about anatomy in high school, and it helped her excel in her college studies. Her first bid for her spot at CSI was not successful, so Chelsea studied for and received her CNA designation. She was a dedicated student, retaking several courses to be able to have enough points to qualify for the program at CSI. From a very early age, Chelsea loved taking care of children and endeared herself to countless families. She enjoyed snowmobiling, snowboarding, waterskiing, and scrapbooking. Her favorite vacation spot was any place where she could enjoy the mountains, rivers, and wild life. Her physical beautiful was accentuated by her spiritual beauty, evident in her radiant smile and the twinkle in her eyes. Chelsea was compassionate and had a loving heart for her family and friends. With heavy hearts, we mourn the loss of a lovely young lady who had so much to offer us with her personality and kindness. Chelsea is survived by her parents, her siblings, Fisk Sorensen, Ryan, Paul, Matt, Austin, and Amanda Roney, Brian Sorensen, and Darla Thomas; her grandparents, Ben and Lynette Airhart of Boise, ID, Cliff and Naomi Carlson of North Augusta, South Carolina, and E. Blaine and Jeanie Sorensen of Eagle, ID, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and great friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2012, from 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM at the LDS Chapel /Stake Center at 3904 Greenhurst Road in Nampa. Chelsea’s funeral service will be held Thursday, December 27, 2012, at 11:00 AM at the same chapel. A private family burial will follow at Kohlerlawn Cemetery in Nampa. Arrangements are under the care of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. In lieu of flowers, memorials for Chelsea may be made to Flahiff Funeral Chapel, 624 Cleveland Blvd, Caldwell, ID. Bishop David P. & Pat Steadman

As her leaders and mentors in the Nampa 31st Young Single Adult Ward, Pat and I, and the entire Bishopric grew to love this beautiful and determined young lady. Surely her talents will accompany her in the hereafter, where for reasons we have yet to completely understand, were needed. We loved that smile and willingness to serve her friends and loved ones. With our greatest love and respect, DAVE AND PAT STEADMAN

It is with a really heavy heart, that I send my love to your family. Chelsea was a co-worker of my husband and a dear friend of our family's. Chelsea entered our home after volunteering to tend our children while we attended the temple. This was followed by many dinners together and family home evenings. A beautiful friendship was formed. Chelsea would often come by to escape cabin fever while recovering from her surgery. She shared trick or treating with my children. She was always there to help us and support us. We would often share our testimony with her of Heavenly Father's plan for her. She had her heart broken a few months ago and was in a period of life where she was struggling to find her place. She was so strong. She had such a strong testimony and love for life and for working hard to achieve her dreams. She was just unsure of why things weren't falling into place for her. My husband was so impressed by her work ethic and positive outlook at work. Yesterday we attended a beautiful memorial for her at Bridgeview, where her co-workers came to cry and share their love. The day before her accident, we had scheduled to do dinner together. I canceled because I wasn't feeling well. She offered her concern and asked if there was anything she could do. We ended up receiving a text Friday morning saying goodbye and Merry Christmas. I have spent a sleepless week thinking about her and trying to imagine her in the spirit world. Thank you for sharing your wonderful daughter with Twin Falls. We have been so blessed by her friendship and miss her more than words can express. I know Chelsea is in a state of rest and peace. My 3 year old has offered to build me a rocket ship to go visit her in heaven. I wish I could. May God be with you as you heal and mourn the loss of Chelsea here in mortality. Love, Tami Aldama

I am a classmate of Chelsea's in the Rad Tech Program at CSI. She was such a bright and kind person. Chelsea was so looking forward to graduating this spring. She had such a kind heart and was so excited for the opportunity to help people in her upcoming career. I really enjoyed working with Chelsea this last clinical rotation at St Lukes in Twin Falls and am really going to miss her.... I'm sending my prayers and thoughts to all her family and friends at this time. God Bless you all....

Chelsea was such a beautiful person who worked very hard to meet all the expectations in her brief life. I will always remember the wonderful smile she gave me last week, the last time we met. Chelsea, your classmates, Tamara, I and all the Clinical Instructors and RTs will miss you very much. You would have made an excellent Registered Technologist. To Chelsea's family: Thank you so much for sharing such a wonderful, sensitive, reflective, young lady and for allowing me (us) to know her. We love you Chelsea! You're in our hearts now! God's Blessings to everyone!

I worked with Chelsea at Bridgeview. She was such an amazing person and made a day at work so much better with her smiling face and personality. I did not know Chelsea long, but I would like to think she knew how much she meant to me. She cared about everyone and always made our patients smile. I know she is sitting along side the Lord watching over us all. I am praying for her family. May you rest in peace Chelsea, gone but never forgotten. Love Suzie
