Cherlyn Joy Smith

Cherlyn J. Smith, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away in Greeley, Colorado on July 27, 2024. She was 72 years old. Cherlyn was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.

Born on September 9, 1951, in Riverton, Wyoming, Cherlyn was the daughter of Claude and Maribel Thomison. She grew up in Wyoming and Colorado and graduated from Valley High School in Platteville, Colorado. On January 8, 1970, she married Thomas R. Smith of Greeley, Colorado. Together, they raised two daughters, Amanda Macmillan of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Samantha Hageman of Naples, Florida.

Cherlyn and Thomas were proud grandparents to four grandchildren: Nicholas and Chase Olsen and Kaeda Smith, all of Fort Collins, and Brayson Toohe, also of Fort Collins. Cherlyn's love for her grandchildren was boundless; they brought her immense pride and joy.

Cherlyn’s career spanned various roles, including work in highway construction, waitressing, cheerleading coaching, and primarily as a dedicated homemaker, a role she cherished most. Her love for her family was evident in everything she did.

Cherlyn had a passion for camping and fishing. One of her most cherished memories was a road trip to Alaska, where she was captivated by the stunning scenery along the way and on the return journey.

Cherlyn is preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Maribel Thomison, and her sister, Shelley. She is survived by her sister, who resides in Winnemucca, Nevada.

A reception in Cherlyn’s honor will be scheduled at a later date.

Cherlyn will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and the love she shared with her family and friends.
