HOLSTER, Cheryl L. “Cheri” (Fiedler), 59, went home to her Lord, Wednesday, July 29, 2009 in Tampa, FL following a courageous 14 year battle with cancer. She was surrounded by loving family and close friends and she will be missed by so many. She is the daughter of Carol and Richard Gehrt and the late Edward Fiedler. Cheri was born in Wausau, WI and after graduating from Valparaiso University, IN she returned to Wausau and resided there for nine years. She married Bill Holster on July 16, 1977 and had two wonderful children, Kelly and Chris. In 1986, the family relocated to Atlanta and spent 13 years in GA, building a network of very close friendships. In 1993, Cheri earned her Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Georgia. In December, 1999, Cheri and Bill moved to Tampa, FL. Following her passion to work with children, Cheri spent six years as a School Social Worker in Decatur City Schools (Georgia) and nine years at Knights Elementary as a School Social Worker in Plant City, FL. Cheri was a loving wife, caring mother, daughter and compassionate friend. She had a generous soul and even in her final moments she cared more for others than she did for herself. Her smile would always light up a room. Her positive outlook and her determined spirit were no doubt contagious. Cheri enjoyed traveling to visit friends and family around the country; especially, her daughter and close friends in Atlanta, her son and daughter-in-law in Charleston, SC, and her family and friends in Wisconsin and Minnesota. She was also blessed to travel with her husband Bill and some of their dear friends to see more of the world. Cheri was a member of St. James United Methodist Church in Tampa. She was a member of PEO (Philanthropic Educational Organization) and held many certificates and honors to further her professions. Cheri played an active role in the fight against breast cancer through her involvement in Relay For Life and served as a resource and role model for other breast cancer survivors. She leaves behind loving family, friends and co-workers who will honor her memory and passion for life. She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Fiedler.
