Cheryl Kaye Monroe
December 8th, 1938 - February 9th, 2017
Cheryl Kaye Monroe, 78 On February 9, 2017 at 2:15 am, Cheryl Kaye Monroe went peacefully, surrounded by her loving family and friends in Edmonds, WA to be with Jesus and Family members in the Kingdom of Heaven. Cheryl had lived vigorously despite living with Congestive Heart Failure Disease for many years. She never once complained about her illness or pain, but remained positive and graceful through her love for Jesus Christ, family members and everyone that she touched the hearts of with her kindness and caring demeanor. Cheryl Kaye Monroe was the first of four wonde children born to Norman Louis Eilert and Dorothy Amelia Eilert in Colfax, WA on December 8, 1938. Her Father Norman Eilert later relocated the family to Othello, WA where he founded Empire Seed Company becoming a large proprietor of Bean and Wheat throughout Othello and the Columbia Basin Region. Cheryl graduated Othello High School in 1957. Cheryl furthered her education and graduated from the University of Washington in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Architecture. Following, Cheryl received her Masters Degree in Fine Arts from The Fountain Bleau Academy of Fine Arts in Giverny, France in 1962. After completing her education, Cheryl worked for Victor Gruen Architects in Beverly Hills, CA and John Graham Associates in Seattle, WA as a Lead Designer. She also taught Interior Design classes at The Cornish Institute in Seattle, WA. In 1967, Cheryl began her own practice as a phenomenal Interior Designer and Architect of retail stores, commercial shopping centers, food courts, banks, hotels, medical / dental clinics. Cheryls calling and passion although was the architectural design of custom, single family estates from the ground up to final completion. She had a maste eye and hand for detail. Cheryl was a Duly Elected Member of the ASID, (American Society of Interior Designers). Cheryl was recognized as one of the best Interior Designers of all time, receiving the Nelly Cashman Award, Female Entrepreneur of the Year Award (Sound Business Journal) and numerous MAME (Marketing and Merchandising Excellence) Gold Awards for new single family residential developments awarded by the Seattle Master Builders Association. Cheryl remained one of the highest regarded Designers until her Retirement in 2009. Cheryl was preceeded in death by her Mother, Dorothy Amelia Eilert (Edmonds, WA) on 10-31-1997 A-82. Brother, Jerold Lake Eilert (Snohomish, WA) on 12-24-1997 A-47 and Father, Norman Louis Eilert (Edmonds, WA) on 2-4-2001 A-88. Cheryl is survived by her loving Sons: Jon Norman Monroe, Daughter-in-law, Kim Seattle, WA. Scott Todd Monroe, Daughter-in-law, Suzanne Monroe, WA. (3) Grandchildren: Victoria Louise Deschamps Husband, Derek Burien, WA Jon Michael Monroe, Seattle, WA Jack Norman Monroe, Seattle, WA (1) Great Grandchild: Dallas Edward Deschamps, Burien, WA Cheryl is also survived by (2) loving Brothers: Randall Norman Eilert and Wife, Jackie Lake Stevens, WA Robert Louis Eilert and Wife, Becky Edmonds, WA Cheryl Kaye Monroe was an amazing woman, filled with God Gifted talent, Grace, and Love as a Mother, Nana, Sis and friend to all. We will miss her dearly each and every remaining day left here on earth. Cheryls spirit and love will always be within our hearts, minds and thoughts. May she be be rejoicing in Heaven as she begins her new eternal life journey with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The immediate family will be having a private graveside burial at the IOOF Cemetary in Monroe, WA. There will be a Celebration of Life Ceremony to Honor Cheryl Kaye Monroe in the near future.
