Cheryl L. Olson, age 76, of Jefferson, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2024 at Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Center in Johnson Creek due to complications of myasthenia gravis.

Cheryl was born on March 3, 1948 in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin to Claude and Violet (Trieloff) Klettke.  She graduated from Jefferson High School and started her career at the University of Wisconsin Whitewater in 1969 and retired from there in 2006. She was blessed to gain lifelong friendships while working at the university.

She married David Olson on May 26, 1973 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Jefferson.

Cheryl will be deeply missed by her family and friends.  She was very kind-hearted and always put the needs of others before her own.  She loved to cook and continued her mother’s tradition of making baked macaroni and cheese as her signature dish to pass at family gatherings which was truly enjoyed by all.

She is survived by her husband David of 51 years, sister Debra (Daniel) Petty, nephews Craig and Jade (Jessica) Petty; stepson Daniel (Kelly) Olson; step-grandson Matthew (Macie Brock) Olson; step-great-grandson Chase Olson and brother-in-law Dale Olson.

Cheryl is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Dale Klettke and her beloved dog Pretzel.

A memorial service will take place on September 3, 2024 at 11:00 am at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Jefferson.  Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until time of service.  A burial will immediately follow at Rock River Cemetery in Jefferson.

Memorials may be made in Cheryl’s name to Rainbow Hospice or St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.

The family would like to thank the staff at Rainbow Hospice for the peace, comfort and dignity they gave Cheryl in her final days on earth.
