Cheryl Sears
September 24th, 1955 - April 16th, 2016
Obituary Cheryl (Cheri) Ann Sears (Welch) was born September 24, 1955 to Agnes Welch (Askeland) and Melton Welch. She spent her whole life in Colorado- a mountain girl at heart. Cheri is one of ten brothers and sisters (Debbie Mancini, Dorothy Kay (deceased), Frankie Valenzuela, Gene Welch, Helen Thoutt Walker, Joe Welch, Mary Nixon, Mike Welch, and Wanda Gaccetta). After a fun loving childhood in Denver, Cheri met her first husband, Jeff Burst, in high school and was married for 12 years. They have three beautiful children together, Ronny Burst (spouse Barbara Hall), Renae Birnell (spouse Donny Birnell), and Sara Rotunno (spouse Drey Rotunno), and one incredible grandson, Jeffery Burst. Cheri also is survived by four step grandchildren. In 1985 Cheri moved to Colorado Springs where she continued living in the Village Seven area for the remainder of her life. She fell in love with, and married Craig Sears in 1992 and joined an amazing family with parents Beverly Sears (Boulder, CO) and Wesley Sears (deceased) and brother-in-law Keith Sears. Together Craig and Cheri built a beautiful life full of the outdoors, their sweet pets, and a very deep love for each other. Cheri was known for her love of camping, hummingbirds, gardening, silly dancing stuffed animals, fun accessories - like hats, sunglasses and socks, a love of the Denver Broncos, and collecting salt and pepper shakers. She was the most selfless person you could imagine, with a deep appreciation for the small things in life. Her love and spirit reached far beyond Colorado. Many speak of how her home was always full. Everyone in the neighborhood called her "mom" and the dinner table was always surrounded by new family and friends. After all, these were the most important moments in her life. In August 2015, Cheri was diagnosed with cancer that took her life on April 16, 2016-- much quicker than any of us could imagine. She fought a battle while always laughing, joking, smiling, and thinking of others first. In September 2015, Cheri celebrated her 60th birthday with a beautiful camping trip in her daughters backyard. It will forever be a memory the family shares together. Throughout her life she always reminded us to smile. That will be her legacyplease celebrate her beautiful life by smiling for her. Services Shove Chapel 1010 N.
