Chester Fason
December 23rd, 1930 - September 10th, 2013
Chester Fason, 82, of Greeley, CO passed away September 10, 2013 at his home. He was born December 23, 1930 in Mt. Vernon, AR to William Lloyd and Pearl (Hendrickson) Fason. He grew up in Mt. Vernon. On December 5, 1954 he married Betty Lou Werner in Johnstown, CO. Chester served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was awarded two Bronze Stars. After the Korean War he joined the United States Air Force serving during the Vietnam War and specializing in communications. He retired from the Air Force in 1971 and worked for Great Western Sugar Company and Pony Express. Chester enjoyed gardening, especially growing tomatoes. He was featured in the Greeley Tribune for being the "Greeley Tomato Man”. He was an avid poker player on the computer and liked watching western movies. He was a member of Air Force Sergeant’s Association and VFW Post 2121 in Greeley. Chester is survived by his wife, Betty Fason of Greeley; son, Michael (Janice) Fason of Hendersonville, TN; daughter, Linda (Richard) Medlock of Cheyenne, WY; grandchildren, Jake (Shannon) Fason of Las Vegas, NV, Desiree (Eric) Jones of Atlanta, GA, Angel King of Cheyenne, Breana (Ray) Janson of Tampa, FL, Chelsea (Josh) Leonhardt of Billings, MT; seven great grandchildren; brother, L.D. (Bonnie) Fason of Enola, AR; and a sister, Margie (Harold) Baze of Mt. Vernon. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Johnny, Coonie, J.D., Jessie, and Ed. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday, September 16, 2013 followed by funeral service at 10:30 a.m., both at Adamson Chapel. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
